Blitz chess in Sofia and Pernik 5

Blitz in Sofia comes in short bursts on fixed dates rather than on a weekly evening. The Bulgarian Chess League plays a blitz section in its Chess Battle days in Bulgaria Mall, the second of which, in September 2026, drew more than seventy players. An Pasan holds a numbered blitz tournament of its own, whose seventh edition was played in February 2026 in the KOOP conference hall.

Cup The Mall was a blitz event of nine Swiss rounds in The Mall shopping centre on Tsarigradsko shose, with prizes from the centre’s shops; its third edition, in September 2024, is the newest on record, so the card waits for a fresher date. In Pernik the Palace of Culture hosted the blitz part of the national youth championships in October 2025 and again in July 2026. No club among these cards names a weekly blitz evening.
