Chess in Pernik, near Sofia 4

Pernik lies a short ride south-west of Sofia, and its chess is held by two clubs. Krakra Pernishki organises a “Chess Spring” tournament and, with the Bulgarian federation, the national under-twenty championships for boys and girls, with classical, rapid and blitz events. All of them are played in the Palace of Culture, which therefore has a card of its own.

Minyor 2019 runs the Cup Struma: the fifth edition was played in the Struma hotel in March 2025 and the sixth followed in October 2025, with no venue printed. No edition dated 2026 has turned up so far. Neither club publishes an address or a schedule, so the cards show where their events take place and not where the clubs train. A player coming from Sofia should check the date on the tournament page first.
